GLOWhome Carrol's
Corner
Hi, I'm Carrol Grady,
also known as Kate McLaughlin.
Let me introduce myself.
In terms of relationships, I am the daughter of
good, Christian parents, the wife of a minister, the
mother of three sons and the grandmother of four
beautiful granddaughters. As a minister's wife, I've
had the opportunity of traveling to, and living in,
many parts of the world, including five years in
Hawaii and 15 years in Singapore.
Professionally, I dropped out of nursing to get
married, taught piano lessons for several years when
my boys were small, then worked in secretarial and
editorial capacities at various church headquarters
offices where my husband was employed. I joyfully
retired in 1998 at the age of 62!
My interests (now we're getting to the real me)
include music, writing, reading and quilting. I am a
pianist and accompanist and love concerts. My writing
includes one published book, several articles in
church magazines, numerous news articles and mission
stories, editing a number of newsletters, and (my
greatest thrill) six published poems. I read
incessantly, especially devotional books and animal
stories. Quilting has kept me sane, as any quilter
can readily understand! I am seldom seen without a
needle in my hand.
Spiritually, I am a struggling seeker of God. I
awoke to my desperate need of God rather late in
life, when I learned that my youngest son is
homosexual. As my neat, orderly world came crashing
down around me, I learned that God is with us in our
pain and can bring good out of the bad things that
happen to us.
Love is patient and kind.
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never ends!
